The combination of high impact resistant thermoplastic, zinc plated steel insert, plus the solid, non-spoked construction and lack of side handle make it strong, durable and easy to clean.

The inclusion of a side handle is generally dictated by ergonomics and available space. A solid control handwheel without a side handle is often specified where fewer rotations and finer adjustment is required. The addition of a side handle gives the option of cranking the wheel – this is useful where greater speed and force of rotation are desired.
